Cult Nails Mind Control

Hello my dear readers! Have we all recovered from Christmas partying and eating yet? I swear I have gain 5 pounds from the non-stop eating over the past week, and there is more eating to do from the coming NY, CNY and my Korea trip in Feb, oh no!

Cult Nails Mind Control - two coats with top coat

Anyway today I have for you Mind Control from the Cult Nails Super Powers Collection. Mind Control is a gorgeous dark purple jelly base mixed with tiny purple shimmers. If you don't know already, I love shimmery polishes, so Mind Control is right up my alley!

Formula is perfect, and I only experience minimal tipwear (as seen above) after three days of wearing Mind Control. I can't wait to try the rest of the polishes out from this collection!

Manis for the Festive Season!

Hello there! Today I have for you two Christmas manis. I don't usually do fancy nail arts, but being the holiday seasons and all, I wanted to do something special!

What I used
China Glaze - Poinsettia (base, two coats)
China Glaze - Ruby Pumps (top half of nails, one coat)
Gosh - Holographic (snowflakes)
Fauxnad plate - m59

What I used
China Glaze - Poinsettia (base, two coats)
NNS - light blue holo (dots)

The reason I have two manis is because after the first mani is finished, I decided I am not good at stamping, and opted for something even simpler, dotting. Turns out I am not very good at dotting either! I guess I should just stick to boring nail painting instead.

Anyhow, I wish you all a very merry and safe Christmas, have a jolly good time with your loved ones!

Awesomeness in Cult Nails Unicorn Puke

After drooling over the many swatches online, my very own Unicorn Puke has finally arrived! My friend Jeanie has sent me her extra Unicorn Puke as part of our swap, and I feel so honored to be one of the 275 owners of this special edition polish released by Cult Nails!

Cult Nails Unicorn Puke - one coat layered over OPI Road House Blues

Unicorn Puke is a multicolor flakie polish with a light purple jelly base. I can see flashes of orange, copper, blue, green, pink and purple as the flakes shift color under different light settings. This polish is simply breathtaking!! What is even more amazing is that Unicorn Puke, unlike other flakies (Nubar 2010, I'm looking at you) is so dense, I only need one coat to achieve the above effect, love it!

My bottle is #259
I layered Unicorn Puke over OPI Road House Blues (a dark blue creme) because I thought it would show off the beauty of Unicorn Puke the best. I just can't get enough of the rainbow flakies dancing on my nails, I don't think I have ever seen any polish like this! Having said that, other brands are hot on Cult Nails' heels and are releasing similar multicolor flakies, namely Picture Polish with Festival, and Finger Paints with Twisted. It seems like flakies will be next year's big polish trend, which I welcome with open arms because flakies are so much fun!

I am going to leave you with more swatches to gush over this mesmerizing polish, enjoy!

A bottle shot of Unicorn Puke, have you seen anything more amazing?

Butter London - Queen Vic

I received Butter London Queen Vic from an awesome swap I did with Jeanie today! She has sent me many beauties, including the much coveted Unicorn Puke, which I will be showing you soon!

Butter London Queen Vic - two coats with no top coat

Queen Vic is a lovely berry purple with a semi jelly base. Although Queen Vic looks very squishy on my nails, it is still completely opaque with two coats. The formula is excellent too, as it glides on so easily.

I think Queen Vic suits me well; even my bf says this color spectrum (i.e. purple/blue) goes with my skin tone lol.  I am in love with Butter Londons, the formula is always flawless, and their brushes reminds me of the Chanel ones. At $14 a pop though, BLs don't come cheap, but I'm lucky to have contacts over the US to get them for me whilst they were on sale, yay!

OPI DS Couture

Apologies for being a slack blogger, but I hope today's beauty will make up for my lack of posts!

OPI DS Couture - two coats with top coat. Check out the crazy rainbow inside the bottle!
This is OPI DS Couture, a polish that I picked up from a small local cosmetic shop. My eyes popped out when I saw this (along with DS Vintage, which is still in my untried stash) sitting on the shelf! Needless to say that was a pretty successful polish hunting day!

DS Couture is a peachy coral linear holo. You gotta love the holographic effect, it is simply too pretty! The formula is perfect too! Although Couture is not 3-free because it is an old polish, it glides on my nails so smoothly.

It is unfortunate that OPI does not make holos like these anymore. OPI could make a fortune (whilst I go broke) if they do! Although DS Couture is discontinued, you could still try your luck on Evil Bay if you want to get hands on this beauty!

The Holo Chameleon - Ozotic Pro 532

Hi girls! Today I have for you Ozotic Pro 532, a polish I got via a swap with Chili. I have been lusting after this one since it has been released a couple months ago, so I tried it on immediately after receiving it!

Ozotics Pro 532 - two coats over black creme

532 is part of the Ozotic Pro Mish Mash Collection, which features polishes that are both holo AND duochrome! How awesome is that combo!

It is difficult to exactly describe what 532 is, because it shifts color from dark purple, to blue, green, and sometimes charcoal. What remains a constant however, is the strong linear holo effect that pops up under bright lights. Application is easy breezy, and since 532 is quite sheer, here I have layered two coats of 532 over black creme.

I absolutely adore the prismatic effect of 532, and I couldn't help but stare at my nails all day, trying to figure out what colors I could see. Here I will leave you with more swatches of 532, perhaps you could pick out shades that I can't?

Chanel Khaki Vert

Today I have you Chanel Khaki Vert, a limited edition polish from Fall 2010. I don't know why it has been sitting in my untried stash until now, because I was instantly attracted to it when I saw the promo picture!

Chanel Khaki Vert - 2 coats with top coat

Khaki Vert is, as the name suggests, a khaki army green creme. It is however somewhat on the dusty side, making it a bit more subdue and feminine, which I totally love! You might remember I don't own many green polishes, but Khaki Vert is very special to me! (It is also the first ever Chanel polish I owned!)

Formula is perfect as I have come to expect from Chanel, and Khaki Vert finishes with a super glossy look. It is the perfect color for Fall, and perhaps I sound vain saying this, but you do feel extra special when you are wearing Chanel on your finger tips :)

Kiko #255

Another polish from the land of Netherlands. Thanks to some lovely ladies I met in my nail polish groups, I get to try some amazing foreign polish brands that I otherwise would have not even heard of!

Kiko #255 - two coats with top coat

Kiko #255 (why is it that many non-US polish brands refuse to name their polishes? Is it really that difficult?) is a dark semi jelly base purple packed with micro holo glitters. It is a stunner! I love how the colorful glitters dance on my nails under bright lights!

#255 finishes on the gritty side, but a coat or two of top coat would smooth it out. It is quite opaque, and the formula is easy for application. This is the first Kiko polish I tried, but if all their polishes are like #255, I would definitely be getting more!
